Thanks to all for the insightful posts. I have learned quite a bit. I think I'm going to purchase a BX2200. I may have a need for a bcakhoe in the future. Is there an aftermarket backhoe for the BX2200?

I am sure you can buy a three point mounted B/H for any tractor, even a BX2200, but there are horror stories out there (and on this web site) about terrible and catastrophic failures when using a backhoe without a sub-frame.

I bought a tractor, a Deere 4100, nearly two years ago knowing that it was not engineered to take a backhoe and then later figured out I needed a tractor with a hoe. So I had to buy another tractor.

If there is any possibility that you will need a backhoe in the future, do yourself a big favor and get a tractor now that is engineered to take one.

In your case a step up to a B7500 would do that.

Keep in mind though that a B7500 with a loader and a B/H will cost $21+K after some hard bargaining or maybe a long drive. A BX22 T/L/B package is about $5k less and is built to take the stress.

Bush Hog makes a model 665. It runs about 5K. If you can find one, the 665 replaced the 662. I am told they work fine but are definitely light duty. You can go to the Bush Hog web site and locate a dealer. www.bushhog.com ....

Do not put a backhoe on the BX2200 the tractor is not made for one. Also you should note kubota warrenty does not cover breakage with a after market hoe.Maybe you should check out the BX22TLB. ....

So by now you should have had a chance to check out the BX2200 for reliability, especially where a backhoe? is concerned. Absolutely without question, this little orange was NOT made to withstand a beating that a backhoe will give it. Even if you consider a subframe model, just check out the top link bracket. It was not designed to withstand any shock, twist or pull applied to it. As one can see upon inspection of the top link bracket, a little too much this way or that way, and you have a whole lot of casting on the ground...it will rip right out. You are in fact, much better off to take a step up in cost, but also in strength...I did years ago when I got my B series and soon a Woods 650. Never thought I would be using a BH, but was certainly glad I went overkill, rather than underkill at the time of purchase. You will be too. ....
